A newly released study finds that taking a daily aspirin could reduce an individual?s risk of dying from cancer, however, researchers warn that additional trials are necessary before reaching a definitive conclusion.
U.S. researchers looked at 100,139 people who took part in the American Cancer Society?s cancer prevention study who had no prior history of cancer and had been taking a daily dose of acetylsalicylic acid, sold in Canada under the brand name Aspirin.?The study, commissioned by?the American Cancer Society, finds?an?8 percent decrease in cancer mortality compared with non-users.?Unlike previous research, the study found there was no difference between patients who had been taking the drug daily for less than five years, and those whose use was longer-term.
