On Jan. 12, you?re invited to explore the Taj Mahal, the bustling city of Bombay and the river Ganges with award-winning cinematographer, writer, editor and director?Rick Ray. Ray ? who spent four months in India, braving heat, cold, altitude, earthquakes and riots ? will be presenting his film?The Soul of India at?Carlsbad City Library?in a free showing at 2 p.m.
?Our film will take us on a Grand Tour of India, from Rajasthan to the Himalayas to South India, with a focus on the history, attractions and the soul of the country,? Ray commented recently. ?It will fly by in 86 minutes, but people will feel they've been on a great journey and will feel very familiar with the land, whether they have been before or not.?
The Soul of India explores the diversity of India, including its jungles, deserts, the highest mountains in the world, tropical beaches, fading colonial hill stations and crowded cities.
Ray has produced films on regions as diverse as Israel, Bali, Borneo, Lebanon, Syria and Iceland. He has presented his films at hundreds of venues across the country, including the Washington, D.C. National Geographic Film Series, California Institute of Technology and the Carnegie Museum. Ray will be returning to Carlsbad City Library by popular demand for the third time. The library previously screened his films East Africa Safari and 10 Questions for the Dalai Lama.??
