VESTAL (AP) -- Three fraternities at Binghamton University have been suspended and three others have been given warnings or placed on disciplinary probation for hazing.
The?Press & Sun-Bulletin?of Binghamton reports two of the frats were suspended until 2018 for multiple infractions, including hazing. A third was suspended until 2014 after being found responsible for hazing while already on final probation.?
The suspended frats can't hold meetings, participate in frat activities or recruit members.
Officials say the three other frats that were sanctioned include an organization that took in new members who weren't students at the school.
The suspensions come a year after the university's frats and sororities were prohibited from pledging and recruiting while officials investigated what they called "an alarmingly high number" of serious hazing complaints.
