Guardians Of The Galaxy And Hunger To Have A Two Month Wait Between Issues

angelaHope you enjoy Guardians Of The Galaxy #5 tomorrow, because you?re going to have a two month wait until #6.

We noted how Hawkeye was slipping down the schedules recently, looks like the same is happening to a few Marvel titles. Guardians Of The Galaxy #6 has been delayed from August 28th until 25th September, with #7 desperately trying to catch up, slipping only from 25th September to 16th October. Hunger #3 has slipped from 4th September to 2nd October, while Hunger #4 has slipped from 2nd October to 16th October. Savage Wolverine #9 moves from 18th September to 2nd October and Superior Spider-Man Team-Up #5 from 9th October to 23rd October.

There are those that complain when Marvel double ships their favourite comics because they run out of money. Hopefully they will find solace in this news?

I Can't Believe This Alien Orange Bubble Sky Actually Appeared on Earth

The sky is blue! Only when it's not gray. Or purple. Or red. Or orange. The clouds are white! Only when they're not gray. Or even darker than that. Basically, the clouds and sky can be anything. But can the sky be a creamsicle orange bubbly thing that looks like we're on an alien planet? Apparently so.

Outsource ? For the Love of your Business | Bridge Global IT Staffing

I have had the opportunity to watch as small businesses grow into big, solid companies and have watched large businesses advanced to greater levels in business. The companies that employ outsourcing as a tool that they can use to successfully expand their business now know the tremendous value that outsourcing has brought to their businesses. I have made it my mission to help both small and big companies achieve their goal of getting quality service without parting with an arm or leg.

Outsourced employees always strive to ensure that they provide the best service for you and do not see themselves as just one inconsequential part of a big machine like many in-house employees do. Outsourced employees know that you have a choice to take your business elsewhere, which is why they will put in their very best (all the time) in the tasks that they perform for you. Many in-house staff usually get ?comfortable? and bored with their job and lack the passion that they once had for their job.? With an outraced employee, you can always count on getting quality performance.

You also get to pay an outsourced according to the number of hours that they work. For instance, if your outsourced employee gets paid 347 per month for a putting in 40 hours of work time at 10 hours per week, you only get to pay for 40 hours and not more. Many employers do not know this, but they actually pay certain employees in their companies for sitting down in front of their computer and just chatting away on Facebook, Twitter or any other social networking site.

Large businesses that hire outsourced customer services providers to help handle their customer services support are outsourcing that aspect of their business function in order to concentrate on their core business activities.? It is totally possible to outsource virtually every aspect of business processes within a company.

Outsourced Business Practices

As mentioned above, virtually any part of business processes that is not related to core business activities can be successfully outsourced. Here are a couple of typically outsourced business processes:

  • Graphic design and multimedia
  • Financing and accounting
  • Telemarketing and sales
  • Data entry and administrative support
  • Web design and development
  • Business strategy
  • Advertising
  • Consulting
  • Business plans
  • Legal
  • Copyright
  • Contracts
  • Article writing and translation
  • Incorporation?
  • Database development
  • Press releases
  • Creative writing
  • Software and technology
  • Copy writing

When you outsource, you are not only saving a lot of money on running your business, you are also saving yourself from the heartache of paying unproductive employees who are just dead weight.?

Bus crash in southern Italy kills 37 people

ROME (AP) ? Rescuers wielding electric saws cut through the twisted wreckage of an Italian tour bus for survivors of a crash in southern Italy that killed at least 37 people after it crashed into traffic and plunged into a ravine on Sunday night.

Reports said as many as 49 people ? mostly Italians ? had been aboard the bus when it ripped through a guardrail, then plunged some 30 meters (100 feet) off a viaduct near a wooded area. In its plunge, the bus tore away whole sections of concrete barriers as well as guardrail. The concrete lay in large chunks in a clearing in a wooded area where the bus landed. State radio quoted Avellino police as saying the bus driver was among the dead.

The bus lost control near the town of Monteforte Irpino in Irpinia, a largely agricultural area about 40 miles (60 kilometers) inland from Naples and about 250 kilometers (160 miles) south of Rome.

The radio report said 11 people were hospitalized with injuries, two of them in critical condition. It was not immediately known if there were other survivors or any missing.

Flashing signs near Avellino, outside Naples, had warned of slowed traffic ahead along a stretch of a major highway crossing southern Italy, before the crash occurred, said highway police and officials, speaking on state radio early Monday.

It was not immediately clear why the bus driver lost control of the vehicle.

A reporter for Naples daily Il Mattino, Giuseppe Crimaldi, told Sky TG24 TV from the scene that some witnesses told him the bus had been going at a "normal" speed on the downhill stretch of the highway when it suddenly veered and started hitting cars. He said some witnesses thought they heard a noise as if the bus had blown a tire.

Hours after the crash, firefighters said that they had extracted 37 bodies ? most of the dead were found inside the mangled bus, which lay on its side , while a few of the victims were pulled out from underneath the wreckage, state radio and the Italian news agency ANSA reported.

Occupants of cars which were hit by the bus stood on the highway near their vehicles. One car's rear was completely crumpled, while another was smashed on its side. It was not immediately known if anyone in those cars had been injured.

Early reports said the passengers had spent the day in Puglia, an area near the Adriatic on the east coast famed for religious shrines. But on Monday, a state radio reporter at the scene said authorities told him that the bus had been bringing the passengers home after an outing to a thermal spa area near Benevento, a town not far from Avellino. Others at the scene said the passengers might have visited another nearby town, Benevento, which was the early home of Padre Pio, a late mystic monk popular among Catholics in Italy.

Passengers came from small towns near Naples, and relatives streamed to the crash site.

Reinforcing commercial host liability helps reduce excessive alcohol consumption

Fewer states are holding alcohol retailers liable for harms caused by customers who were served illegally, according to a new report from researchers at Alcohol Policy Consultations and the Center on Alcohol Marketing and Youth (CAMY) at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. Published online by the American Journal of Preventive Medicine, the legal research study documents the gradual erosion of commercial host liability (also referred to as dram shop liability) from 1989 to 2011.

Commercial host liability holds alcohol retailers liable for alcohol-attributable harms resulting from illegal alcohol sales to patrons who are intoxicated or underage at the time of service. It applies to both on-premise (bars, restaurants and clubs) and off-premise locations. The Community Preventive Services Task Force recently determined that commercial host liability was effective in reducing a range of harms from alcohol in states that have it, including a median six percent drop in alcohol-related motor vehicle crash deaths.

The report found that in recent years many states enacted legislation to protect retailers from commercial host liability by increasing the evidentiary requirements, limiting the amount of liability awards and/or protecting certain retailers from liability. For example, between 1989 and 2011, the number of states that recognized liability for serving intoxicated adults without restrictions declined from 25 to 21, and states with one of these major restrictions increased from 11 to 16. Maps illustrating the erosion of these laws can be accessed at the CAMY website at http://www.camy.org/action/commercial-host-liability/.

"The erosion of commercial host liability in recent decades is a public health failure that directly contributes to the exorbitant human and economic costs of excessive drinking," said lead study author James F. Mosher, JD, of Alcohol Policy Consultations, a public health legal consultancy in Felton, California. "Alcohol retailers who operate negligently and engage in illegal serving practices should not receive special protection, denying those who are injured their day in court."

The report also examined states' adoption of the Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) practices defense, an optional provision in commercial host liability laws first developed in 1985 as part of a project funded by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. In states that have adopted it, retailers can avoid liability if they show that they adhered to RBS practices at the time of the alcohol service leading to the injury and lawsuit.

RBS practices include instituting effective ID checks, training staff on identifying signs of intoxication and discontinuing marketing practices that encourage intoxication, among others. The report found that only six states had adopted the RBS defense provision despite the potential benefits to both public health and retailers.

"These findings underscore the critical importance of commercial host liability laws," said David Jernigan, PhD, co-author of the report and CAMY director. "These laws have been proven to prevent alcohol sales to underage and intoxicated persons, and should be a priority for public health."

Excessive alcohol consumption is responsible for approximately 80,000 deaths in the U.S. each year. The economic cost of excessive drinking was an estimated $223.5 billion in 2006, or approximately $1.90 per drink consumed. Most binge drinkers (54.3%) who reported driving after their most recent binge drinking episode drank in an on-premises retail alcohol establishment such as a bar, club or restaurant, and 25.7 percent of this group reported consuming 10 or more drinks before getting behind the wheel. On- and off-premise alcohol retail outlets are also sources of alcohol for underage drinkers, particularly those aged 18 to 20 who have high rates of binge drinking and associated public health and safety problems.

Dell ships thumb-sized Android PC to testers

Merely days after Google revealed its Chromecast device, Dell has started shipping test units of its own take on the ?computer on a stick? concept. Named Project Ophelia, the Android-powered thumb PC is aimed to be an affordable, lightweight PC alternative, according to Pund-IT principal analyst Charles King.

project-ophelia

First announced at the Consumer Electronic Show last January, Project Ophelia is a device the size of a USB stick. Once attached via HDMI, Ophelia turns any screen or display into a personal computer, a workstation, a media player, or a gaming box. Running on Android, Ophelia is able to harness the power of a familiar OS, allowing users to download and install apps, stream movies or play games as they would on their gadgets.

Project Ophelia might be one of Dell?s measures to address the continued rise of smartphones and tablets that have taken a huge bite from their PC market. The company is hoping that the idea of small thumb-sized computers will catch on as more people take to the cloud for data storage. Priced at $100, Ophelia will definitely not be competing with regular PCs. Instead, Dell will be targeting sales staff, field personnel, or maintenance workers. Ophelia could also be enticing to companies who are looking for more affordable alternatives or who are trying to avoid the cost of upgrading office computers to Windows 8.

Dell plans on developing features that will differentiate Ophelia and make it interesting for enterprise customers. This could include allowing IT administrators to lock down or wipe a device in case of loss or theft. Another feature could be the ability to log and track activities on the device. Once available to the public, Ophelia will be sold through Dell?s website as well as through certain partners.

NFL ??? Phila perde Jeremy Maclin per tutta la stagione

? 28/07/2013Posted in: News, NFL News

Washington state berry picker strike, demand better conditions

Life is much better for migrant workers now than it was generations ago. The labor camps are cleaner, safer and some people can even afford a nice television. But it?s still a hard life.

One woman?at Sakuma Brothers Berry Farm in Skagit, Washington lives in Labor Camp Two. She sleeps on the floor with her baby and husband in a cabin that?s built for six but houses 14, the woman said. Another crowded dormitory was packed with eight people, many of them children, even though a sign posted on the wall read ?capacity: four.?

For the second time this month, 200 Sakuma berry pickers are on strike. The movement was inspired by a worker who was fired after asking for a raise.

?We told them, ?If you fire him, you fire us all,?? said worker Fernando Martinez through an interpreter. That worker was hired back, but the troubles continued.

The migrants, many of whom do seasonal work up and down the West Coast, get paid for the amount of fruit they pick. They say it works out to about $350 for a 50-hour work week. At $7 an hour, it?s well below Washington?s minimum wage.

Now, in what supporters call a rare and gutsy move, workers have organized. They formed an 11-man committee, sat down with their bosses and demanded $14 an hour, or $4 per box of berries picked.

?By working together, they can counter the power of the company,? said supporter Nick Mele. ?It?s an important move for workers here and across the country.?

In a show of solidarity on Wednesday, volunteers from St. Charles Catholic Church fed the striking workers roasted chicken. ?If they would pay a fair wage, we wouldn?t have to feed them,? said one volunteer.

Sakuma managers broke off negotiations early Wednesday morning, and are hiring replacement workers. ?They told us if we don?t like the pay, we can leave,? said Martinez, a negotiating committee member.

Sakuma Brothers, which sells its berries to high-end buyers such as Haagen Dazs Ice Cream, refused requests for an interview Wednesday, but did issue a statement through their public relations firm saying, ?For three generations, our family has always sought to provide the best possible wages, and that continues today. As farmers?we cannot set the price for our berries and we cannot pass on any increased costs. We take any complaints by our workers very seriously and we are continuing to meet with the workers in an effort to resolve our differences.?

Packaging labeled 'iPhone 5C' shows up in China, leads to more color iPhone speculation

Packages with the branding "iPhone 5C" have shown up in China, which indicate nothing more than someone, potentially Apple, potentially a knock-off company, has manufactured some boxes that read "iPhone 5C" on them. That would be C as in "Color", and likely refer to the rumored less expensive iPhone. All we know right now, however, is that someone posted it on the WeiPhone forums. But here's the thing:

Apple can finalizes product names at the last minute. Engineers, designers, etc. can all happily work off of code names. So while it's theoretically possible Apple marketing has locked down names for their September products in order to start getting packaging and collateral made, it's also possible that stuff is pretty quickly generated these days and there's no reason to lock anything down two months ahead of time.

The packaging, as presented, isn't the typical cardboard box used for the iPhone since it's launch in 2007, but something that appears closer akin to the plastic tubs used for the iPod touch. That could make sense for a less expensive product. (Though the iPad mini still came in a box.)

As to the name itself, it doesn't follow any modern Apple branding conventions I can recall, where "mini", "nano", and other secondary words have been the typical modifiers. Then again, neither did iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4S, and neither would iPhone 5S.

So take a look at the boxes, examine them for signs of Helvetic Neue or Apple Myriad Ultra-Thin, and for indication of iPhone 5C-as-in-Color jargo, and let me know what you think. And if any one sees an iPhone 5X-as-in-eXtra-large peeking out anywhere, flag that bad boy too!
