Plane crash in run-up to airshow

A vintage aircraft has crashed during during a display in a village in Bedfordshire.

Bedfordshire Police and other emergency services were called to a crop field near Old Warden airfield on Sunday morning after the aircraft came down.

Police said: "The aircraft is a vintage plane taking part in an air display hosted from the Old Warden Collection.

"The 44-year-old male pilot of the aircraft which was single crewed has walked away with only slight injuries."

Police said any investigation, if there was to be one, would not be carried out by police but by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
