Methods of Social Networking For Your Small Business | ArticloPedia

Small business is one of the best parts of the American economy. Businesses that are small provide over 70% of the jobs to the American people. They are also some of the major powers behind change that happens in both large cities and small towns across the United States and the entire world. However, without being able to connect to customers and other businesses our free market economy would collapse extremely quickly. This is why it is important to understand the methods of social networking for your small business.

A small business which operates in a small city may get a large amount of business. They could be making specialty gourmet candy. Even if the town only has a population of 2,000 people the store could be doing well over $100,000 a month in sales simply because it took advantage of social networking correctly. Social networks include everything from Facebook and Twitter down to the everyday social interaction that children have on the playground. While their social networks are much, much smaller than those of online social networks that does not mean they are not important. In fact, the better you know your social networking circle the more likely you are going to be able to take full advantage of it!

One of the best tools in a businesses arsenal is having social networking contacts. Creating a Facebook and Twitter account should be one of the first steps a modern business takes in its marketing plan. While they may not play a large role early on in the business, they could one day be one of the best marketing methods that the company has. Comcast, Whole Foods, Bank of America and many other major corporations have taken advantage of the benefits that social media has to offer. They are able to reach out to customers who are either extremely happy or extremely unhappy about their service or product. These corporations allow consumers to send them messages directly or use a tool to automatically scrape social networks to search for mentions of their brand or brand names. Once they detect a message that is problem they will reach out and try to assist that customer.

The same basic premise exists on many different social networking platforms across the Internet. Many business are only involved in social networking so that they can contact their customers to tell them about promotions. Other businesses only use social networks to deal with customer service issues while leaving their sales tactics up to their marketing department. The truly unique companies, such as small businesses are able to combine the best of both words. They are able to show their products are worth buying and talk about various promotions that they are offering upon them. However, if a customer does have a question or needs assistance with a problem that they have encountered, an answer is just a few mouse clicks and keyboard strokes away. Best of all, no additional employees are needed to manage this effort, it can be done with existing staff!
