Kim Ki Sam ?Stars and Stripes
South Korea, June, 1965: South Korean President Park Chung-hee joins farmers and other officials in transplanting rice seedlings during the nation's 17th annual Farmers' Day. The transplanting was done in the Kimpo district, whose good irrigation system enabled it to escape a drought ? the worst in 60 years ? that plagued other areas of the country. Park's daughter, Park Geun-hye, is South Korea's current president.
