EDF EN Mexico commissions 164MW wind power plant in Mexico

EDF Energies Nouvelles subsidiary EDF EN Mexico has commenced operations at its 164MW Bii Stinu wind power plant in Mexico.

Located in a windy region of Oaxaca in southern Mexico, the new plant comprises of 82 Gamesa G80 wind turbines. The facility is owned by EDF EN Mexico and Mitsui & Co. through its Mexican subsidiary MIT Renewables Mexico.

The electricity generated by the facility will be purchased by a set of international and Mexican groups under a 15-year power purchase agreement. The groups include: Arcelor Mittal Steel Lazaro Cardenas, Walmart Mexico, Grupo Modelo, Grupo Herdez and Continental Automotive Guadalajara.

EDF Energies Nouvelles has now placed into service 231.5MW of gross wind capacity with another 160MW currently under construction.
